Reception try building a nest.

Today at Forest School Reception pretended to be birds. They listened to the story of Spikes Best Nest before setting off to collect and sort sticks. Once there were a good selection of sticks the fun and challenges began. Where should we build it? how will IMG_2116it stay together?

How long is this one?

It was not easy but we had some great ideas!

Little Roos explore clay.

The children from Little Roo’s Nursery enjoyed experiencing clay for the first time today. They were excited by the squidgy texture as the clay oozed out between their fingers.

One piece of clay fell into the stream, having bravely descended down the bank into the stream there came a cry……..

“Look at my hands they are a sticky!”

It was not very long before a group of children could be seen clambering down the bank, clutching their clay, once in the water the children experimented wetting their clay and squeezing it in their hands.

DSCF0262DSCF0265DSCF0268DSCF0269This week the children used the clay oven to try some outdoor cooking.
We mixed together flour, sugar, sultanas and water to make a sticky dough.
Finally we rolled the dough into balls before placing them into the oven to cook!
“I really like these can we make some more next week please?”
What do you think we could cook next?
